The course is home to the Grand National, one of the most famous races in the world. The Grand National race is run over 4 miles and is considered among the most demanding steeplechases in the world. There are usually 40 horses taking part in the race but fewer than ten may actually complete the course. Throughout the year Aintree plays host to numerous other race meets, concerts, conferences and exhibitions.
